Stephen Kulp (he/him) is an accomplished civil and commercial litigator, trusted advisor, and strategic advocate for individuals and businesses.  As a partner at Murphy Sanchez, Stephen provides high-level representation across a range of practice areas, including real estate, business litigation and counseling, outside general counsel services for closely held businesses, and transactions.  His pragmatic, solutions-driven approach allows him to achieve favorable outcomes for clients facing complex legal challenges.

Before joining the firm, Stephen was the founder and principal of Kulp Legal LLC, where he built a reputation for strategic counsel and effective advocacy.  He is recognized for his keen analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to craft creative legal solutions.  Whether resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, or arbitration, or advocating fiercely in litigation, Stephen is committed to protecting his clients’ interests.

In addition to his legal practice, Stephen is a champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion.  He has held leadership roles in numerous organizations, making history as the first AAPI elected Chair of the Philadelphia LGBTQ Bar Association and the first openly LGBTQ+ and AAPI attorney elected to the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Board of Governors, where he served as Chair in 2024-2025. He also serves on the boards of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania, the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, and the Independence Business Alliance.  Additionally, he co-chairs the Asian American Adoptee Network at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association.

Stephen’s advocacy and professional excellence have earned him widespread recognition from esteemed organizations, including Drexel University, the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association, AL DÍA News, The Legal Intelligencer, the International Association of LGBTQ+ Judges, the National Diversity Council, the Philadelphia Bar Association, and the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund.
